Settings you never changed use the 2.0 defaults.

Your site keeps its look. Updated sites get the Classic style preset, which is the original Modality design.

Menus, widgets, logo and header image stay where they are. Their locations are the same as in 1.x.

Nothing is deleted. Your 1.x settings stay in the database, and a backup copy is kept, so you can go back to 1.0.5.2 if you ever need to.

A notice in the dashboard confirms the update and tells you how many settings were kept. In 2.0 it is displayed as intended.

The slider. Both 1.x sliders were replaced with one fast, accessible slider. Your slider category, number of slides, speed, effect and caption settings are kept. Posts without a featured image are now skipped instead of showing as empty slides.

Body text color. If you kept the 1.x default grey (#777777), it becomes a slightly darker grey that is easier to read.

Copyright text. If you kept the 1.x default (“Copyright 2017 Your Site”), the year now stays current by itself.

What moved where

All settings are still in Appearance → Customize, grouped into four panels.
